No 14 runs between Gare St Lazare and Olympiades right in
the heart of the city. It was opened on 15th October 1998. A new train
called the Météor lives up to its name. Its speed, is twice as fast as the
regular Métro, it covers the seven km trip in just twelve minutes.

The passengers wait on marble
platforms, behind perspex doors. This is for protection, since the trains
travel so swiftly and silently.

The aero-dynamically designed
train automatically stops aligned with the platform doors which open to
allow passengers to enter.

Both doors close automatically.
Inside, the train comprises "banana" carriages rather than separate
wagons. Passengers may walk from one end of the train to the other. Since this train services the busy central Paris area, there are few seats, leaving plenty of room for standing passengers.
