Le Tour de France - The "Tour de France".
La course cycliste qui fait le tour de la France. Le gagnant d'une étape, porte le maillot jaune.
A cycle race which does a tour all around France - takes most of July. The winner of each stage wears the yellow jumper.

Parade on the Champs Elysée

La fête nationale - défilé militaire. This is the official parade on July 14, in the Champs Elysees. Click here for more on the Fête Nationale

Le commencement des vacances scolaires -les grandes vacances.

Le départ aux côtes et en vacances. Les juilletistes prennent leur route le 1er juillet suivi par la chasse-croisé au fin du mois quand ils retournent et les aoutiens partent. Des millions de voitures sur les autoroute la même journée et des bouchons des centaines de kilomètres de longueur!

Start of the long summer holidays.
The departure to every coast and on holidays. Julyists start their month holiday and their travels on July 1. This is followed by their return and the simultaneous departure of the Augustites on July 31. Millions of cars on the highways on the same day and traffic jams hundreds of km in length!
