Le Cagou
Here is the cagou of New Caledonia. The cagou is a curious bird which does not fly and and doesn't sing, it barks like a little dog! It is about the size of a dog. Its feathers are blue-ish grey, and it has a crest. Its beak is long and orange and its legs and feet are long and orange too!
It is an endangered specie, it was the victim of rats and dogs. It is now a protected animal, and you can see it at the botanical and zoological gardens park or in the national parks.
Le cagou ne vole pas et est environ la même taille qu’un petit chien. Ses plumes sont gris bleuté et il porte une huppe. Son bec est long et orange, et ses pattes sont grandes et orange. Le cagou ne chante pas, il aboie comme un chien !
C'est une espèce en voie de disparution car dans le passé le cagou était victime des rats et des chiens. Il est maintenant un oiseau protégé. On peut voir les cagous dans le parc forestier ou dans le parc national. |
